Education Spotlights
Wilmette Public Schools District
The Wilmette Public Schools District 39, in Wilmette, Illinois, is going through an exciting time. Not only is their district upgrading 1,300 computers to Mac OS X, but they are also redefining how they use technology in the classroom. With the recent purchase of six eZedia K-12 Site Licenses, all schools in the Wilmette Public School District will have eZediaMX and eZediaQTI running on each and every machine. eZediaMX and eZediaQTI are set to be used in grades 1 through 6, and throughout multiple curriculums.
"The eZedia product line is the most promising set of new applications
I've seen in years. eZediaMX allows students and teachers to create
sophisticated multimedia projects while eZediaQTI "unlocks" the
advanced features of QuickTime and allows professional quality web
sites to be created with very little extra effort and a low learning
curve. These products take multimedia authoring a huge step forward
from the products we have used in the past.
We are at an exciting time in our district. Not only are we upgrading
our 1,300 computers to Mac OS X, but we are also in the process of
redefining the way we use technology both in the regular education
classroom and within our technology curriculum. eZediaMX and eZediaQTI
will be on every single computer in our district.
As we considered our multimedia application options, it quickly became
clear that the eZedia products fit our needs perfectly. First, teacher
and student users will benefit from eZedia's ease of use. A few basic
concepts will get most users off and running with these products. As
use progresses, more sophisticated ideas can be introduced...or even
discovered...by users. This flexibility will allow teachers to
differentiate their curriculum for the various learning styles they
have in their classroom.
One of my goals is to help all teachers infuse technology into the
curriculum using the best hardware and software tools we can find. The
combination of Macs running Mac OS X and eZedia products will help
facilitate this objective."
