SOCIAL STUDIES: eZedia and Apple iMovie

eZedia & Apple iMovie PDF

Subject: Social Studies

Grades: K - 12

Challenge: To improve student understanding of key historical events, as well as student communication skills.

Solution: eZediaMotion, eZeMatte, eZeScreen, eZeClip, and Apple iMovie

Benefits: Students stay engaged and simulated through the research, planning, and production of history assignments by using digital learning tools to visually communicate and express their understanding of historical events.
Using conventional teaching methods in Social Studies curriculum can create challenges in student engagement, participation, and comprehension. The study of historical events, the reasoning behind the decisions that people made, and the impact on other interrelated events can often be confusing and contradictory for the student. Using digital learning elements in the classroom engages and stimulates the student throughout the entire learning process, enabling them to reach a higher level of comprehension and academic achievement.

Digital learning software boosts academic achievement by providing students with the tools to visually communicate their interpretation of the Apple iMovieassignment - developing and improving comprehension, research, and collaboration skills. Incorporating digital learning into Social Studies curriculum stimulates interaction between students, opening the door for group discussions from a global perspective that becomes informative, cooperative, and tolerant - all fundamental elements in understanding history.

Students begin researching, examining, and investigating key historical events using tools such as the Internet, history books, and reports. Subsequently, their thoughts become visual through brainstorming, storyboards, and scripts. Using a digital video camera and Apple iMovie, students transfer their stories from paper into video. By incorporating eZedia plug-ins, students are able to easily enhance their iMovie projects, adding "life" to their visual stories. Imagine placing your class on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, for Martin Luther King's I have a Dream speech, or on the 1863 Gettysburg battlefield. Create accompanying narrations to student documentaries using picture-in-picture effects, or add themes and borders to enhance a digital storybook assignment. With the eZedia Plug-ins for iMovie, you can do it all! Engage and stimulate learning by reinforcing the connection between visualized thoughts and communicated comprehension.

By combining Apple iMovie software and eZedia plug-in enhancements, students stay engaged and motivated - creating a collaborative and constructive learning environment. Help your students cross the digital divide and meet No Child Left Behind requirements through digital learning that is engaging, fun, and creative.
