eZedia World - vol. 1
eZedia's Monthly e-Newsletter
April 2, 2001
In this issue:
1. Welcome to eZedia World!
We're sending this e-newsletter along to you because you are part of the growing community of eZedia users who expressed an interest in hearing more about the "easy media" approach we are taking with our products and the growing range of digital media applications for them. Great things are happening - dentists, doctors, engineers, research scientists, school kids, and business people in general have been sending back stories about all the things they are doing with eZedia that were almost impossible to accomplish any other way. Some of these stories will be profiled here on a regular basis.
I sincerely hope you will enjoy receiving this newsletter and that the content is helpful in getting your job done. We won't be sending you hype - our intent is to give you the facts so that you can continually expand your capabilities to do new and wonderful things with all the digital media that impacts us every day.
It almost goes without saying - but does need to be said. If for some reason you prefer not to receive future issues just reply to this e-mail with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject line - we will be sorry to see you go, but will comply with your wishes.
All of that said, welcome to eZedia World. We're delighted to have you aboard!

2. Announcing the Release of eZediaMX 2.1 available TODAY on the web!
Be the first to download our new release! We've made eZediaMX even easier to learn and use by offering extensive on-line help. We've also added an easy to use default Object Well so that you're ready to go the minute you launch eZediaMX. Our text objects now support bulleted lists and with version 2.1 you also have greater precision in editing animation paths.
Last but certainly not least is the PowerPoint(tm) Importer available on version 2.1! This remarkable function allows users to drag-and-drop a PowerPoint file (.ppt) into an open eZediaMX document and add all the pizzazz to it available in eZediaMX. Our programmers have been working overtime so eZediaMX users can take existing PowerPoint files and create presentations that really get attention!

3. Show the world who you are - eZedia at Work
In this issue we give you a glimpse of just one of the many applications of eZediaMX in the workplace.
Dr. Deepak Kaura, Chief Resident of Radiology, Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta Canada,
lets us in on how he likes to show the world what he does! Read on... or watch a
QuickTime Movie of Dr. Kaura.
... and now Dr. Kaura:
"I have been using eZediaMX for 2 years in my capacity as Chief Resident of Radiology at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Often, radiology can be a subject that is dry and dull to learn but one of the unfortunate necessities of becoming a doctor.
With eZediaMX I can make more lively powerful interactive teaching modules. It is a fact that students of all ages learn more easily when they are involved in the process. In my presentations I can propose questions and have my students test their knowledge by responding interactively to my questions and learning from their errors.
The beauty of eZediaMX is that it is extremely easy to use but can create highly intricate and detailed presentations. As well, since it is so simple, complex tasks are extremely easy to perform in eZediaMX.
Using the DICOM plug-in interface with QuickTime I am able to acquire images from various medical equipment such as MRI and CT scanners as well as ultrasound machines.
I save these images as simple .jpg formats and easily integrate them into my presentations using eZedia. I am able to then build interactivity into the presentations by allowing my students to answer questions and learn from their responses.
eZediaMX is just a really amazing software tool and I look forward to seeing where the company and I can take this software in the future."
4. Did you know about Object Wells?
Each month we highlight a different feature of eZediaMX. In this issue, eZedia World interviews Alison Pitura, Manager, Support Operations at eZedia.
eZedia World: So Alison what is an Object Well?
Alison Pitura: An Object Well is a library of reusable objects. That's the technical description, but really Object Wells are a fantastic resource of template backgrounds, buttons or music for anyone building a presentation in eZediaMX. They allow you to create a variety of looks as well as building interactivity into your project.
eW: Where can users find these Object Wells?
AP: The exciting addition in our 2.1 release is that we've added a default Object Well. That means that when you launch eZediaMX, an Object Well will open automatically in the eZediaMX Window to the right of the Document Window. Users can now drag in the objects from the well and get started immediately!
eW: Are there more Object Wells available?
AP: Yes. We have created Object Wells to provide you with coordinated sets of design elements that you can use as backgrounds and buttons for your own projects. When you purchase a copy of eZediaMX over 50 background and interactive Object Wells are included. If you download a demo from our site, you can go back and get the Object Wells from the resources page in the support section of our web.
eW: I'm still not sure if I know how to use the Wells?
AP: Once you see them in action, it really all comes together, but we do have a tutorial on using Object Wells on our site. You'll find it along with a variety of other resources and tutorials.
eW: What is the greatest thing about Object Wells?
AP: They are an unbelievable resource when you're building a project. We've created a number of Wells that have themes, so the whole feel of your project just comes together much more quickly. As well, you can make and save your own Object Wells so you can use your favorite images, movies and music over and over again. Our whole focus at eZedia is to create software that is intuitive, easy-to-use and powerful. I think Object Wells are a big part of that!
