Mac Design Verdict
RATING 4 out of 5 rating
When I look at any of the eZedia products I'm struck first by one thought: These guys "get it." Not only is their software easy to use, it's simply intuitive, the way the Mac is intuitive. Things just work the way you'd expect them to work. Well the same is true of eZediaMX, eZedia's interactive authoring tool and "big brother" to eZediaQTI. The interfaces are much the same, but eZediaMX adds more controls and more effects to the mix.

Again we find simple-drag-and-drop editing, the ability to combine text, graphics, video, audio, even QuickTime VR, into a single presentation. We also have more pre-programmed actions and easy-to-use path-based animation tools. A "frame" (in eZedia terms) is a single unit of a movie-think of it as a single slide in a slideshow but with eZediaMX, that single slide can incorporate any or all of the above-mentioned file types. Then you create a second frame and start it all over again.

With more than a dozen professionally done instructional videos available for free download from their Web site and excellent documentation, eZediaMX is about as good as it gets for ease of use and a flat learning curve.

In fact, I found only one thing to dislike about eZediaMX. Unlike its "baby brother" eZediaQTI, eZediaMX outputs to a proprietary format requiring a special plug-in for viewing. This lack of standards-based support really puts a hitch in the "git-along" as far as I'm concerned. Output to QuickTime (my preference) or SWF would be far more desirable.
